There seems to be much debate about spinning and/or not spinning.
As we have wall drawing of the AE drilling, it's safe to say they understood what a spinning shaft was. Even to the point where they mechanically powered it with rope.
Have you ever been drilling a piece of material, and the drill jams? As I don't think they had clamps, you lose your grip, and the part starts spinning. This has happened to me more times than I wish mention. So, again they understood what a planar (flat piece of material) could and would spin, in relationship to a vertical drill shaft. If the piece of material was an oval/circle and you choose to drill in the center when it jammed, do you not now have, in essence the beginning of a wheel and axle. One which I might add, you are mechanically driving.
The Great Divide...
Beyond this point there seems to be confusion as to what the AE could, and could not spin.
The AE made furniture. It is difficult for me to believe, they did not have items or toys that spun on a shaft, with a hole. You would have to conclude all drilled hole were only for passing string/rope through, or peering through.
It's as if, saying that the AE had things that spun on a shaft, is taboo.
I don't understand that line of thinking. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
