I thought I'd put this here as it qualifies as a 'mystery', in my opinion.
We know from statuary and other artistic renderings that pharaohs wore various crowns: the deshret, hedjet, khepresh, pschent and Akhenaten's cap crown, but my question is this:
Why have no actual crowns ever been discovered, do you think?
One might have expected a crown to have been discovered in the unlooted tomb of Tutankhamen and yet, despite other fabrics having survived the millennia, there is simply no evidence for one being in the tomb, or indeed among any recovered grave goods.
[edited to add: the remnants of a cap crown are believed to have been found attached to his mummy.]
Where are the [edited to add: 'other'] crowns, people?
Form an orderly queue.
Thanks.
