Archeoastronomy and the Taurid meteor stream - 1st Post (2 replies)

Greetings, this is my first post to the forum. I am a fan of Graham's body of work. I have recently finished "America Before" and found the theme of astronomy and geometry as a global echo of a common culture to be thought-provoking and important. However, I can't help but feel there is an elephant in the room. Here's the thing: if the Taurid meteor stream has posed an existential threat to humanity since it entered the inner solar system 20,000-30,000 years ago, and our ancestors have been mapping and tracking the heavens "As above, so below", shouldn't our astronomically inclined ancestors have been tracking the Taurid stream?

Has anyone analyzed archeoastronomical sites to check for this alignment? I have reviewed archeoastronomy books and papers that attempt to identify celestial alignments, and see no evidence that anyone has looked at this. Some have identified potential related alignments - Maltese temples and pre-Aztec Teotihuacan tracking the Pleiades; the potential meaning of the bull in Lascaux cave, not much else.

Shouldn't we look at EVERY ancient site in relation to the Taurid stream and see what we find?

Seeking your thoughts.

Cheers, John
