The origins of the Pallavas (no replies)

There was an ancient kingdom called the Pallava kingdom in what is now northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh in India.
[en.wikipedia.org]

The Pallavas were responsible for building the famous monuments at Mahabalipuram. Their influence can also be seen throughout South East Asia. Yet, the origins of the Pallava are a mystery.

One of the more curious theories is that they are of Persian origin. But as someone pointed out, "Comparing Pallavas to "Pahlava" of Iran is as silly as comparing Kannada to Canada!"

There are of course other theories on where they came from
[controversialhistory.blogspot.my]

Any thoughts of where they might really be from? Do you know of any genetic study done in Tamil Nadu or Andhra Pradesh that could either prove or disprove any of the theories?
