Breaking News
After the pandemonium of yesterday, court resumed this morning in the case of Creighton v Vyse with the judge sternly warning all those in the courtroom that untoward behaviour will not be tolerated and to refrain from idle chit chat.
In attempting to clarify the actions of John Snape and just how he managed to rise from the obscurity of an old car shed to international prominence, in one fell swoop, the defence took a little time to recap on recent postings.
The defence began with Snape’s reason for posing as Jon Ellison.
"Perhaps, some hacker is going to break into his computer and steal another unique Snape idea," mused the juror with the longish beard and glasses.
Dr Philip Femano has previously rallied to the defence of Snape, however, Femano still cannot grasp the fact that Creighton’s book is being peddled to a potential worldwide readership through Amazon, Simon & Schuster etc. and therefore cited ”experts” require a certain degree of credibility, otherwise the advertising is bordering on deceptive conduct.
As Martin Stower asked:
But Femano proceeded to bolster Snape’s “credibility” as an “expert” in the strangest of ways. In a feeble attempt to help his buddy, he actually undermined Snape.
"Could Femano be serious?" muttered the bearded one to the bald headed juror next to him who looked deeply puzzled.
"Yes, once we’ve read the book." chimed in Baldy. "However, prior to purchase, we are relying upon the word of the author that the author’s selected expert is, indeed, an expert, otherwise it is deceptive conduct."
"Obviously Femano has never done a book interview," replied Beardy.
Femano, again, proved his complete lack of understanding of the real issue.
Femano’s doubts must be entirely his own. A normal, critical readership requires a certain level of confidence in the truth in advertising before committing to purchase.
"Obviously, Femano must live in a parallel universe," whispered the juror in the paisley shirt to his neighbour.
Femano then proved that his mental faculties may be in serious need of assessment by stating:
This is exactly the point which the defence has attempted to highlight.
Snape has not produced a truly, scientific report.
Snape has not allowed any independent verification.
Snape has never offered his findings up for a peer review process.
Snape is merely an “internet armchair expert” known mainly for backing up Philip Femano, GHMB’s Resident Crackpot Theorist’s crazy claims about aliens and lost civilizations.
This is what potential purchasers need to be made aware of before they waste their hard earned money on pseudo intellectual phoniness. Snape is only an expert by his own self acknowledgement and self congratulations.
Court was adjourned for lunch.
Snape is expected to give testimony in the next session.

MS “So why is he cited as “art expert, John Snape” and not “some bloke I met on a message board”?”
But Femano proceeded to bolster Snape’s “credibility” as an “expert” in the strangest of ways. In a feeble attempt to help his buddy, he actually undermined Snape.

PF “Scott isn't relying on Jon's expertise, he's relying on Jon's observations. Whatever gave Jon the ability to make his observations is irrelevant.
It doesn't matter what his expertise is."
"Could Femano be serious?" muttered the bearded one to the bald headed juror next to him who looked deeply puzzled.
Quote
PF "Even if Jon never attended any schooling at all, his descriptions are still there. Wouldn't matter if he was a skilled riveter, politician, engineer, artist...
Otherwise, Jon's background, education, expertise, etc., are all irrelevant to the readers' ability to make that simple assessment on their own."
"Yes, once we’ve read the book." chimed in Baldy. "However, prior to purchase, we are relying upon the word of the author that the author’s selected expert is, indeed, an expert, otherwise it is deceptive conduct."

PF "Besides, the author of a book is under no further obligation to elaborate on what's published in the book."
"Obviously Femano has never done a book interview," replied Beardy.
Quote
PF "Secondly, I still don't understand what bearing Jon's expertise has on the validity of his descriptions or why anyone would want to know more about his background based on the observations he made.
As I said, even if Jon lied to Scott about his expertise, it won't change the observations he made about the brush strokes."
Femano, again, proved his complete lack of understanding of the real issue.
Quote
PF "Jon's expertise is otherwise irrelevant except for the fact that it facilitated the insight to make those observations in the first place.
I doubt that any objective reader would "enquire further" simply because I see no information to be gained from such knowledge. How that would prompt any reader to want to know more about Jon's expertise before "trusting" his observations makes no sense to me."
Femano’s doubts must be entirely his own. A normal, critical readership requires a certain level of confidence in the truth in advertising before committing to purchase.

PF "Again, it's the stated observation that's important, not whatever facilitated the insight that prompted the observation. But regardless of who made the observations about the brush strokes in that cartouche, it's irrelevant to me what the expertise is of that individual.
But logically, getting any more information about Jon's expertise is inconsequential to our ability to corroborate whether Jon's descriptions do indeed correspond to the paint brush marks we see up there in the rafters.”
"Obviously, Femano must live in a parallel universe," whispered the juror in the paisley shirt to his neighbour.
Femano then proved that his mental faculties may be in serious need of assessment by stating:

PF “That's the entire point of the peer-review process and why a truly scientific report must present enough detail to allow independent verification of any claims made by the author.
However, I might put a bit more credibility in a source that has a proven track record of being correct in its claims.”
This is exactly the point which the defence has attempted to highlight.
