Archaeologists have recently been making much of their ‘discovery’ that the Folkton Drums encapsulate their favoured Neolithic unit of measure, the Long Foot. I’m just finishing the last chapter of the second volume of my book (Plans and Analysis of over 300 stone and timber circles) and cover this very topic with the following conclusions:
1. The Folkton Drums would appear to embody the Megalithic Yard rather than a Long Foot.
2. The diameters reflect the Megalithic Yard as a diametric unit.
3. The heights reflect the Megalithic Yard as a circumferential unit.
4. In this, Pi is likely recognised as 22/7, 19/6 and 16/5, since key factors of 5, 6 and 7 are present.
5. In this case, the megalithic Eye Glyph, prominent on the drums, may very well symbolise Pi.
Edit: The explanation, being expressed in millimetres, has been removed as inappropriate. See molder's comment below.
