I've been following the arguments for and against OK building techniques with some interest. Some of the assumptions I came to this site with after reading FOTG's have been explained quite well by various writers here including Thanos and others.
I still have a problem understanding a few AE construction methods though Can anyone explain how they were able to do this with the tools at hand?
Or this:
or this:
Or how they fashioned bowls like these from the Cairo Museum:
Sorry if this has all been discussed and explained before. I remember having this discussion with Archae Solenhoffen when he was here and even he really did not come up with a satisfactory answer.
He referred me to Stocks for an explanation on working with granite but unfortunately, Stock's video presentation showed him working his technique with sandstone not granite.
I would be grateful for an informed discussion on how the AE were able to work such precision in a medium like granite or how they were able to work the bowls some of which are from the late Naqada if I am not mistaken.
