Welsh Native Americans/Moon-Eyed People (no replies)

Hello all! I am new to the forum and very excited to discuss interesting and thought provoking topics! I am a third generation native Floridian and have heard all types of stories and folk lore growing up. That being said my family and I will be moving to Northern Georgia with the next few months. Naturally I have been researching things to do and the history of the area we will be relocating to. I came across the legend of what the Cherokee called “The Moon- Eyed people.” They described them as having white/blonde hair, pale skin, and big blue eyes. They said they appeared to almost be blinded by the sun and therefore, somewhat nocturnal. I have found other resources that say there may have been welsh settlers, long before the Colombus expedition in 1492. Many artifacts have been found supporting this claim of the moon-eyed people from statues, pottery, and even mass graves in the early 1800’s in SE Tennessee. I was also elated to find out that there are actual ceremonial mounds located near our new town! The Rock Hawk and Rock Eagle mounds are much like the Mounds Graham discussed on his series as well as such sites as the Nazca lines. They were meant to be seen from above! I’ve read that date back up to 4,000 years old however, after watching Grahams series I’m inclined to think they are probably much older! Are the mounds and the “moon -eyed people” connected somehow? Were they there before the other tribes of Native Americans? In Cherokee folklore, they supposedly were at war with these tiny native Americans. If anyone has anymore info about any of these topics or of the smoky/Appalachian mountain lore, I would love to hear about it! Thank you, and hope to hear back from someone soon!
