Have been doing some serious research on Pilot Mountain State Park in Surry County, North Carolina. Read an account of a University of North Carolina professor mentioning that there was an almost perfect triangle at Pilot Mountain in a newspaper article from a visit in 1823. Then a Duke University professor in 1944 published an account that described the mountain as an "almost perfect pyramid." For months I looked for this driving around the mountain and not seeing it.
Then one day I got exactly east of the mountain and looking west I saw it. The crazy thing about it is that the top of it is 99% pure quartzite that is 200 feet tall.
It might be the only pyramid you can drive your car almost to the top of it, park your car and walk a quarter of a mile or so and be right at the peak of it. Frankly, I've done it for years not knowing I was on the top of a pyramid that has flat areas for ceremony much like the ones in Mexico.
Months after the pyramid discovery I was up on a trail with a friend during the equinox at sunset. I was taking images of all the stone faces there but he said, "Jim, turn around!" When I turned around this gigantic pyramid shadow was growing toward the horizon. We were about 1,300 feet above the valley below but the shadow was clearly miles and miles long. It was a perfect pyramid shadow with the Big Pinnacle as a pointer on top. It is interesting that the best view of the pyramid shadow on the equinox is right below a very rare raven nest. Raven's have been nesting there for centuries but there is only one other raven nesting area in North Carolina.
Have never made a music video before but this turned out OK. I kind of cut the song off at the very end so might redo it. Have included it here to show the one side of the pyramid that is in the video. Is it natural or man-made is the big question. The camera was placed on a tripod on the Little Pinnacle that sits between a cairn and the Big Pinnacle on a perfect east-west axis. Now, the notch you see in the video is curious and I discuss it a bit in the text below the video. I'm not an expert in anything but I am wondering if that notch reflects the Great Year or if the sun rises on the notch in different spots for the solstice, cross-quarters and equinox? Very curious! The notch had been hidden by trees until the fire on November 27, 2021 that engulfed the entire mountain. Will try to monitor the notch over the course of 2023.
This is just a couple hours away from where Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson are giving their lectures in Asheville, North Carolina in June.
