The ideas put forth concerning the "Pyramid Pump" evades me. Maybe someone can explain to me a few things. For starters, why all this effort for water? If you are off in the lower fields, there were canals. They still exist today, OK. The entry point for one of the canals is upstream, Helwin. Lake Morris may have been a source as well. The Plateau is relatively small, in comparison to the farmers fields. Was there really a need for such a device? I am dumb founded. I can't justify the expense and effort. There was no need for such a devise.

If they wanted water that naturally feed the lower pit, then just tunnel in at a lower point below the Pit. It would flow out naturally. Digging such a tunnel, is a whole lot easier, than spending 20 years busting rock. Besides, the Nile flooded the fields, and they had Shadufs. A labor force of 10,000 men running shadufs, would be immediate. The farmers wouldn't need to wait for 20 years. On a serious note, they had plenty of water from a system of canals. They still exist today.
