Ancient observatories (1 reply)

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone had considered that in the modern era we always build our stellar observatories on platforms as high above the atmosphere as possible and it seems that alot of the places that Graham visited would have been at the peaks of mountains when the sea levels were so much lower. Would it not make sense, therefore that what we've been left with could, potentially, be just what remains of the equivalent of ancient telescope foundations. Imagine if all that was left of our civilisation after another major rise in sea levels were the structures that we've built on top of mountains and in 20,000 years the next wave of humanity finds what we've left, what would they make of the remains of the structures that we've put onto those places?
