My book on Skara Brae associates the neolithic village with a nearby group of islands called the Faroe Islands. Based on several points of commonality I correlate the word Faroe with the Egyptian word for Pharaoh, which Budge gives as per-aa.

Another more speculative correlation comes out of the Faroese language, where the phrase "at landes" (Atlantis?) means "ancestral country". In Egypt, the word aat (based on the root aa) could mean "ancestor", and the word per could mean "country". From that perspective, the Egyptian word per-aa could also mean "ancestral country".
