I touch a bit on the Ubaid of Mesopotamia which is the culture these lizard figures come from.

Elongated skulls of various types are found in the greater Mediterranean region and east Asia dating back to the 9th millennium. Unfortunately we do not have a Denisovan skull to compare who was also a contemporary of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon.
Neanderthal is said to have died out around 30,000yrs ago, Cro-Magnon around 12,000. It is agreed Neanderthal mated with modern humans which, to be clear are actually different, would include Cro-Magnon leaving the question of what would they look like? What happened to them? Did they die out too or did they live on and what would their skulls and skeletal structure look like? The same question would need to be asked of the Denisovans of whom a percentage of east Asians today share their DNA. And from there we have these groups mating with each other and so on. Are the "cone heads" hybrids of the various species? A separate species? Aliens even? I don't know, but one thing for sure is that they were real and revered seemingly as gods so much so that for thousands of years modern humans purposefully subjected themselves to gruesome self mutilation just to look like them to bear the mark of "nobility".

A bit more to the Mesopotamian tales than that, but regardless of the actuality of who these gods were or to what extent they were "real", it is very curious to me how well it all ties into the actual archaeology and the appearance of these odd skull types as figures of reverence and emulation which makes one ask if these were the very "gods" they spoke of.
As far as that goes, I hope we will find the answer someday but beyond the basic foundation I believe at this point anything else is mere speculation.
Of particular interest to me, a more attainable goal I think, is ferreting out the fate of Cro-Magnon and his possible role in the rise of civilization. It is said anatomically modern humans have been around for roughly 200,000yrs yet it wasn't until around 40,000yrs ago that we started acting like modern humans marked by the arrival of Cro-Magnon in Europe. To detour for a moment, popular literature will say this was actually 50,000BC, but this is based on the genetics and the out of Africa model being correct and not the actual anthropology and archaeology which actually tells a different tale. Too much to get into now, but worth noting for clarity.
The other misnomer in popular literature is that "anatomically modern humans" evolved 200,000yrs ago when in reality prior to 40,000yrs ago, really around 25,000yrs ago, there are actually no examples in Africa (with the possible exception of one skull fragment from a recent find) of fully anatomically modern humans which namely boils down to cranial morphology, meaning prior to this time the remains in Africa display archaic facial features unlike what is found in the "fully anatomically modern" humans of Eurasia after 40,000BC. What models are starting to suggest is that in reality archaic humans left Africa much earlier and at some point become AMH then migrated back to Africa sometime after 40,000BC. Quite interesting.
I digress....Cro-Magnon appeared in Eurasia sometime around 40,000yrs ago and compared to his Homo sapien counterparts in the rest of the world was physically and intellectually quite different. On average he was much taller, not uncommon to be over 6ft, with a robust heavy frame with very large skull having a cranial capacity on par with Neanderthal around 1600cc which by comparison modern humans, including other Homo sapiens of the period, average around 1300-1400cc. Not a "giant" per se', but he was a big dude, the archetypal "heroic" figure, who no doubt would have been an imposing sight to other Homo sapiens he encountered. But despite all that, what most sets him apart was an intelligence and consciousness, his "behavioral modernity", that was leaps and bounds above any other previous hominid including other contemporary Homo sapiens who were otherwise little different than they had been for the previous 150,000yrs. Almost a different creature entirely.
While continuing discoveries suggest this "spark" was also present within Neanderthals, what makes it completely different is that Neanderthal never progressed beyond this foundation, a curious phenomenon that also plagued every other hominid species prior to Cro-Magnon including his Homo sapien contemporaries. In essence, unlike Cro-Magnon they were incapable of progressive change. So stark is this disparity in human history it is known as the "Great Leap Forward"-the seemingly abrupt point where modern humans actually started behaving like modern humans. Seemingly overnight in evolutionary terms, we abruptly find amazing cave art comparable to modern masters (as has been said by modern masters), carved statuary, a completely different tool kit utilizing multiple materials and as yet before unknown technologies like fishing and weaving, jewelry, ect- soon culminating in sites like Dolni Vestonice (Czech Republic) c. 28,000BC where we find communal living consisting of possible structures, thousands of pieces of fired clay artifacts, weaving i.e woven clothing, ritual burial, sculptured art, hearths, ect, ect. But of importance here also is that here too is found what is known as the "Venus Figure":

According to this study, as I interpret it, Cro-Magnon sometime culminating around 12,500yrs ago was effectively genetically replaced by other populations that obviously could have only come from the east. He was gone. Or was he?
What makes Cro-Magnon archaeologically readily identifiable is his skull type and the Venus figure. If Cro-Magnon didn't die out, we would want to look for evidence of these things in particular which interestingly both are found much later than 12,500BC.

No skeletons as of yet but I predict there will be skulls of the Cro-Magnon variety, possibly others. This is not to say the population as a whole was Cro-Magnon, in fact I suspect there were relatively few, but rather that they were easily able to recruit local populations and may have even been seen as "connected to the gods" if not "gods" themselves. Gobekli Tepe has a strange history in that it was deliberately filled in at various times and built up cruder and cruder each successive time until it was eventually abandoned around 7,000BC. But where did they go?

Before the discovery of Gobekli Tepe, the megalithic sites of Malta were considered the oldest megalithic "temples" in

I went to Malta several years ago on one of my travels and it is truly amazing and after travelling all over the world to see these sites what struck me was that it seemed much older than was being reported which I now have no doubt that it is. Another megalithic feature of Malta is what are known as "cart ruts", hundreds of uniform "groves" of unknown purpose that crisscross both islands. Some head off of cliffs, some head deep into the water in which some point right to the other islands and others seemingly to nowhere-a far off land now gone.

It is clear the cart ruts were made, based on both visual and geological evidence, at time the islands of Malta (Malta, Gozo, and Camino) were one land mass when ocean levels were much lower which could have only been sometime prior to 5,500BC which obviously implies the megalithic structures are at least as old as well. According to he Malta museum, before 6,500-7,500BC ocean levels were at a point where Malta was actually connected to Sicily and part of one large landmass in which the Mediterranean was nearly separated into two large basins by a more widely exposed Tunisian strait and now submerged archipelagos off the Sicilian coast.

I have seen crystal clear video of these skulls on demand from an episode of Ancient Aliens which Georgio meets with the museum curator which she brings out several skulls for him to view and sure as shit there are all 3 main types: cone heads, Ubaid, and a stunningly exact Cro-Magnoid type right down to the clearly square eye sockets. I was blown away. I knew it!
I have yet to find any older picture documentation, but this is an excellent find as in one place we have clear evidence of all 3 types being found together in the same context which among other things represents a curious possibly hierarchy. And by the way, these bones were also found among a mish-mash of thousands of animal bones that has been described as nothing short of being the product of a massive influx of water, i.e a flood.

Lending clear credence to this idea is that in 2015 a giant man-made monolith was discovered underwater off the coast of Sicily towards Tunisia dating to at least 7,500BC:

As interesting as this all may be, there's more. In an underground rock cut very curious structure at Malta known as the Hypogeum:
The remains of 7,000 skeletons were discovered which contained, of course, many elongated skulls of varying types. Unfortunately the skulls were removed from display in the museum in 1985 so pictures of them are few:
I have seen crystal clear video of these skulls on demand from an episode of Ancient Aliens which Georgio meets with the museum curator which she brings out several skulls for him to view and sure as shit there are all 3 main types: cone heads, Ubaid, and a stunningly exact Cro-Magnoid type right down to the clearly square eye sockets. I was blown away. I knew it!
I have yet to find any older picture documentation, but this is an excellent find as in one place we have clear evidence of all 3 types being found together in the same context which among other things represents a curious possibly hierarchy. And by the way, these bones were also found among a mish-mash of thousands of animal bones that has been described as nothing short of being the product of a massive influx of water, i.e a flood.
And where we find Cro-Magnon we find once again:
Find the Venus figure. And one thing is for sure is that the Malta culture was crazy about her as dozens of such figures were found of all sizes, some quite large (no pun intended).

I believe that Malta was one of the last substantial refuges of the Cro-Magnon maritime culture which after the flooding events of 6,000BC, which with their numbers dwindled, spread out across the greater Mediterranean from Malta and elsewhere that were destroyed with some sects finding their way to Mesopotamian. They are the "Magicians of the Gods" that Graham was looking for both before 10,000BC and again after 6,000BC.
