I tried to find out why we have 24 hours a day. I did not find the answer, but I found this 3500 years old Egyptian workman's sundial.
The workmen cheat their boss. In this sun dial the first and last hours of the day are longer, also the midday hour is longer than the others. If workmen used this sundial and started one hour after sunrise, keep one hour lunch, and stopped one hour before sunset, they stole about one hour from their employer.
But the original question. Why we have 24 hours system? A year has 12 months, a month has 30 days. So, it would be more logical if a day had 12 hours and a hour had 30 minutes.
