Comparing the Water Gods (no replies)

In this post I will compare the six following gods

Enki (Sumer)
Poseidon (Greece)
Yam (Canaan)
Neptune (Rome)
Apan Napat aka Varuna (India)
Quatzalcoatl (Central America)

Association with water:

Enki: God of water, seawater, lakewater

Poseidon: God of the Sea and other waters

Neptune: God of freshwater and the sea

Varuna: Hindu god of water and the celestial ocean, as well as a god of law of the underwater world.

Yam (also Yamm): is the god of the sea in the Canaanite pantheon.

Quetzalcoatl: Quetzalcóatl seems to have been conceived as a vegetation god—an earth and water deity closely associated with the rain god Tlaloc

Brother of

Enki: Brother of Enlil. God of wind, air, earth, and storms. He It was the name of a chief god listed and written about in Sumerian religion

Quatzicoatl: Brother of Xolotl. He was the god of lightning.

Poseidon: Brother of Zeus. He was the sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion, who ruled as king of the gods of Mount Olympus.

Neptune: Brother of Jupiter. the god of the sky and thunder and king of the gods in Ancient Roman religion and mythology. Jupiter was the chief deity of Roman state religion throughout the Republican and Imperial eras

Varuna is the brother Indra. Indra is the king of Svarga (Heaven) and the Devas. He is the god of lightning, thunder, storms, rains and river flows.[6] Indra is the most referred to deity in the Rigveda

Yamm is the brother of Baal Hadad (In some text El is the father of both in others Dagon is the father of Baal Hadad) He was the God of Weather, Hurricanes, Storms, Thunder and Rain.

Son of

Enki is the son of Anu. Anu is is the earliest attested sky-father deity. In Sumerian religion, he was also "King of the Gods", "Lord of the Constellations, Spirits and Demons", and "Supreme Ruler of the Kingdom of Heaven", where Anu himself wandered the highest Heavenly Regions.

Yamm is the son of El. El is the supreme god of the Canaanite religion.

Poseidon is the son of Cronos. In Greek mythology, Cronus,, was the leader and youngest of the first generation of Titans, the divine descendants of Uranus, the sky, and Gaia, the earth. He overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age.

The father of Quatzacoatl is Mixcoatl. He was the god of the hunt and identified with the Milky Way, the stars, and the heavens in several Mesoamerican cultures. He was the patron deity of the Otomi, the Chichimecs, and several groups that claimed descent from the Chichimecs. Mixcoatl was worshipped as the central deity of Huejotzingo and Tlaxcala.



Sons

Son of Poseidon is Triton. Triton is a mythological Greek god, the messenger of the sea. He is the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, god and goddess of the sea respectively, and is messenger for his father. He is usually represented as a merman where he has the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish, "sea-hued", according to Ovid[1] "his shoulders barnacled with sea-shells".
Like his father, Poseidon, he carried a trident.

The son of Neptune is Triton, like the son of Poseidon. The son of Neptune is also a merman, who wielded a trident much like that of his father.

Ennki has a son named Marduk aka Oannes. Marduk aka Oannes was a mythical being who taught mankind wisdom. Berossus describes Oannes as having the body of a fish but underneath the figure of a man. He is also depicted holding a trident.

Varuna: Bhrgu and Valmiki were specific sons of Varuna.

Enki: One of the Anunaki council of 12

Poseidon: One of the 12 Olympians in ancient Greek religion and myth.

Varuna: The Bhagavata Purana lists a total of twelve Adityas as Sun-gods. Varuna is one of them.

-Having a beard

Poseidon was a well-muscled giant with flowing hair. His great size came from his lineage as the offspring of the Titans Rhea and Cronus. Poseidon also possessed a flowing beard and mustache.

Quetzalcoatl:Legends describe him as a bearded white man, with fair hair and blue eyes.

Ennki appears as a bearded man wearing a tunika surrounded by flowing water.

Neptun: He was depicted as a bearded men holding a trident and seated in a seashell drawn by sea-horses.
