In my book Point of Origin, I trace symbolic elements seen at Gobekli Tepe forward to later traditions in India, Egypt and Northwest Africa based on a variety of criteria. Ancient philosophies that are understood to have been ancestral to the Vedic, Buddhist and Hindu traditions also underlie the Dogon and Egyptian cosmologies.
What's interesting is that the Dogon carvings present a similar set of animal and symbolic shapes, carved with similar artistry, and reflecting the same technique of shallow relief.
