I came across this ancient disease recently, after I heard several people speak of a the symptoms of it, I started researching it.
The disease currently affects between 23% and 80% of the people on the planet depending on which country they are in. It causes neurological changes and major medical problems, for pregnant women, and people with medical problems or who's immune system is weak.

My research tracks the current genetics of it back about 9 - 10,000 years ago, when it developed the current form. And it appears in the Middle East area initially.

Associated with its appearance, we also find the appearance of what we call the domestic cat. So it appears that this parasite took the cat as its main host.

It also turns up in Ancient Egypt and the mummy's there which provide a link from Ancient to modern and the spread of culture from there spread out across the globe. may also suggest why they adopted a cat as an idol. ( I know this is drawing a long bow, but worth the mention, I thought.)

My interest is in how this disease may have affected our culture, as it appears similar symptoms occur in humans as appear in the vermin that are affected by it, ie, attraction to the predator. I won't mention politics here.
The research shows that it has quite a marked impact on our society and I am wondering if maybe this is a missing link between the behavior of ancient cultures and our present culture.

I have a lot more information on this and the larger picture in our current society.
As I do not have a background in Ancient Archaeology or research,so it would be good to get some feedback from a community of people who would be interested in this and happy to research it in there personal area's of expertise, as I believe it could be quite important knowledge.
