In these pics, we have:
- quarries with overhangs and little cubes removed
- scoop marks inside of flintstone homes
- cubicles dug out of what look to be rock hillsides ...gotta look way up on the cliff
...and a whole bunch of other stuff which makes me scratch my head as to the reason why? Why do this and then obviously the other natural question is how? For the hammer and chisel proponents here (Archae?) - do you have a logical explanation which a fellow like me can buy into? I've tried the modern hardened steel chisels and hammer on rock idea and didn't get anywhere on my project over a number of days. Are people sitting on boards attached to hemp ropes and lowered over the cliffs so that they can dig these things?
You've seen how massive Petra is by now...still think the current explanation is valid? At the 7 min mark, in Portugal...finely carved 'pool' but may be a little difficult to heat and clean and the stairway up a boulder...certainly not to heaven? Being serious for a moment, I suspect that the stone was likely removed in once piece and that all of that work was easy.
The stone wall in Polynesia...did they even have forging capabilities to produce all the chisels which would have been required and or the contraptions strong enough to lift these?
