I was looking for mudfossils on google and found this interesting bit. Original find site is Wadi Rum (I picked the place at random, by picking up a '5 strangest places...' video at random). What you are seeing is fossilized, you basically have a cut view through the stone at the surface of the slope.
I used to call it the nuclear plant, but have now realized it's something else. Note the straight walls and floors, with what seems to be complex right angled patterns... Interesting.

I called this the casino. Note the steel frame type structure inside the U-shaped building. Notice the 3 tube like things sticking out. They look crushed, but the center one is quite circular. There is a circular pattern in there as well. If you are quick eyes, you will soon see the other two have been crushed, but has the same pattern. Keep that pattern in mind. It is very common, as we will see.

You see these tube like structures 'sticking out of the mud'. That's what they are. And they were made by earthlings like you and I.
