The relatively new science of DNA analysis, offers the tantalising possiblity of new evidence to back up Graham Hancock's theories of mass extinction events, since we can now chart our way back through time. In paleo-archaeology scientists are already discussing the emerging evidence of population bottlenecks. It is known that homo-sapiens who migrated from Africa into the rest of the world around 100,000 years ago, then occupied the rest of it, arriving in Australia, 60,000 years ago. America 20,000 years ago. Europe 40,000 years ago. etc. (All dates are rough estimates.) Scientists were surprised to find that we are all much more closely related than hitherto thought, with the greatest degree of genetic diversity being in Africa where our species originated, but very limited genetic diversity outside Africa. DNA science then should be able to reveal whether there was a major population bottleneck 12.000 - 14.000 years ago. Has it done so? Ancientsoul
