If as I have previously proposed that the Great Sphinx could have been an Ancient Shiva Linga that was used as a Power source for the construct the Great Pyramid pre-flood, and it was purposefully surrounded with water to increase its power, then the damage we see to the body could have come from the effects of electrolysis, in the water surrounding it, which would have eroded the water soaked base while further solidifying the Head.
Of course the head looks small to use if we think of it as a complete body, when the original makers may have chosen a shape for technical reasons and also an effigy even if not seen totally, and they also could have known from the start that using the sphinx was just a start that the great pyramid would produce much more power and they could drain the water, the damage could have been covered over by them or the people who rediscovered it.
Another possibility is that the head was in fact re-sculpted as it was damaged or other reasons, and was also used as a power source, eroding the stone on the body and enclosure. The hole in the head and tunnels could have been original and used to service the Coil or coil and wires, and the hole in the head held the center shaft of the propose Shiva Linga. It could have had an electrically lit Crown as well as proved power for construction and civilization.
The head may or may not have been re-carved but to say it has to be because of the erosion on the body, not taking into consideration of the advanced civilization that build the Great Pyramid and their advanced forms of possible power use if true would throw off any theory, and not including it when looking for the Truth will hide it instead. I'm for the truth what ever it turns out to be.
