The G1 Air Shafts are constructed by placing an inverted "U" block onto a base plate..
Thus.
This is obviously a very time consuming and unusual method to construct a conduit, involving the accurate cutting out of a channel in each individual block complete with the notoriously difficult to fabricate internal corners.
Water tight integrity does not seem to be a priority as the "U" block is inverted with the joints at the bottom.
A much simpler and efficient method would have been to build up the conduit using separate sidewall and ceiling blocks.
So the question is... Why the inverted "U" blocks. The entire upper unit being fabricated from a homogeneous single stone.
Thus.
