The Moors of Al Andalus (6 replies)

I am completely blown away with the Graham Hancock's body of work he is certainly one of the most prolific purveyors of the once hidden truth. I just finished the Magicians of the Gods and feel like every question I had about humanity’s prehistory was satifacterally answer and that has been a long time coming. I would like to challenge this master researcher to look into something that is close to my heart. I have done much research on the Moors of Al Andalus(Southern Spain and Portugal). And with the breadth and range of their influence during their reign in that part of the world I am still utterly amazed that I did even know of these people until well into my thirties and only because I was curious as to my own ancestry. I read a book entitled Babylon to Timbuktu by Rudolph R. Windsor, that pointed me in the direction of the Moors as
possible candidates from which so called African-Americans could be descended. The facts that led me to this theory are these:

As far as proof of the Moors being the ancestors of African Americans or their Moorish identity, so to speak, for me, that was a simple matter numbers. Numbers like 711-1492; the period the Moors reigned in Spain. But the most significant number there is 1492: the dawn of a new age for so many reasons, two of which were The discovery of the new world by the Spanish, and The Moorish kingdom of Granada surrendered to Spain. And even more numbers that help clarify the equation are 1499 when the Muslims of Granada rebelled against the inquisition refusing to convert to Christianity, and 1501 when they were given the ultimatum to convert or go into exile. Needles to say most did not convert and anywhere from a quarter million to 800,000 Moors were expelled from Spain, making their way down to the west coast of Africa by 1502 where and when, coincidentally, the transAtlantic slave trade got its start. See what I mean? It’s all in the numbers. And by the way, I don’t believe in coincidence.
As far as proof of their importance to European history and advancement here is a quote from Wikipedia on the Moors:

“The period of the Caliphate is seen as the golden age of al-Andalus. Crops produced using irrigation, along with food imported from the Middle East, provided the area around Córdoba and some other Andalusī cities with an agricultural economic sector that was the most advanced in Europe by far. Among European cities, Córdoba under the Caliphate, with a population of perhaps 500,000, eventually overtook Constantinople as the largest and most prosperous city in Europe.[19] Within the Islamic world, Córdoba was one of the leading cultural centres. The work of its most important philosophers and scientists (notably Abulcasis and Averroes) had a major influence on the intellectual life of medieval Europe.
Muslims and non-Muslims often came from abroad to study in the famous libraries and universities of al-Andalus after the reconquest of Toledo in 1085. The most noted of these was Michael Scot (c. 1175 to c. 1235), who took the works of Ibn Rushd ("Averroes") and Ibn Sina ("Avicenna") to Italy. This transmission was to have a significant impact on the formation of the European Renaissance.”

Though the evidence I have given here in regard to the Moore being the original victims of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, is limited here I leave it to the reader to prove me wrong. There is much more evidence out there but the above was enough for me.

It is all good that I and other so called African Americans have researched this and that most are in agreement with my theory but coming from us it could be considered self serving. However if Graham or another European were to research and come to the same conclusion I feel that more people would listen. And this is important because our identity is in question to us as well as most others. If it is not true it would be disappointing but I am more interested in the truth.

Finally I ask how, in the current era, does an entire culture with nearly 800,000 members disappear in in under two years. And don't give me the craps that they all settled in Morocco, some I am sure But 800,000. What would that translate into by today and what is the Moorish population in Morocco today?

So, again I self servingly challenge Mr. Hancock and anyone on this forum that considers themselves good researchers to tell me where they went or better yet where in Africa did the American slaves come from because I just can’t swallow the lies anymore.
