Hi! First time poster, long time fan of all things ancient and mysterious. I've been wondering about the man-bag icon found in ancient depections of gods for a while now and last night it finally hit me - it's Enki. They are buckets of water too, not man-bags. In the earliest images of Enki (cylinder seals) he has rivers coming from his shoulders; He's the god of fresh waters as well as the co-creator or humanity. Similarly, in stone reliefs spanning the ancient world, the god holding the man-bag is often a water-bearer seen feeding the tree of life. My theory is that the man-bag holder is Enki either with a different name or reincarnated. I'm assuming there is an Enlil motif out there somewhere too, waiting to be discovered.
