Hello,
I have a question I was curious if someone could shed some light on. In the Ute Mythos, when speaking of their flood, they talk of the Lesser Spirits escaping the flood by climbing the Stairway to Heaven (AKA Pikes Peak). Whats also noted is that they came from the east by the Great River.
Granted, my first assumption was the Mississippi River and the Cahokia. Though, if the story is true and older, I wonder what the geographical layout would have looked like before the melting of the last ice age. Im interested to know if there were any other ancient river systems to the east that could of taken the name Great River to the east of the Rocky Mountains.
Any insights into the knowledge of ancient river systems in N America would be greatly appreciated - to see how the pre or post ice age world rivers would have looked like.
Thank you,
-Mateo
