I have always wondered at the seemingly outrageous claims that the Great Pyramid was built in 20 years. I would welcome any opinions of an alternate theory (mine) that perhaps the pyramid was already standing at the time of Khufu and that he, for whatever reason, added the casing stones and that THAT construction took 20 years. That idea seems at least more reasonable as an explanation than that of the entire "20 year" construction theory. If my conjecture is correct then it brings up the question of what the pyramid would have looked like before the casing stones were added. I'm quite happy to be wrong, but it does seem to be a reasonable alternative.
