During the spring equinox the sun rises directly east of the Sphinx. The constellation you would see in the back of the rising of the sun would be somewhere between Pisces and Aquarius. As Robert Bauval pointed out, you would have to go back to 10500 BC for the Sphinx to look upon the constellation of Leo during the rising of the sun on the spring equinox.
My question is which constellation would be in the background of the sunset in the west on the spring equinox in 10500 BC?
